Though we’re experiencing a rainy season here on the east coast, I can still feel spring in the air. Generally in my neighborhood the walkers and joggers are out and about. This is a great neighborhood for outside exercise. But I must admit many days and throughout the summer I watch them from my office window thinking I have to get out there myself. Then I see all of the work I need to accomplish, and before you know it, another day has come and gone. And guess what. Seeing the forest and ignoring the trees, I hadn’t exercised.
But yesterday was different. I made a decision of quality to begin brisk walking again. It was slightly drizzling with overcast skies, yet, I made a decision to just do it. Once I was out there, it became apparent that the only thing holding me back from “doing it” before was the decision. This one decision sparked a drive within me and not only did I walk in the morning, but in the evening as well.
Decision making
can be regarded as an outcome of mental processes for obtaining an objective. What is it that you’ve been intending to do but haven’t yet stepped out? Could it be taking a brush-up course, cleaning out your closet, or starting a part-time business? I believe we are prone to procrastination simply because we are looking at things from the wrong perspective. Generally we see taking a brush-up course as work. It appears that it will take up more time than we have to give. Same with cleaning the closet or starting part-time business. But as we begin to see the trees individually instead of focusing on the entire forest, most things won’t appear so intimidating. One decision in the right direction can direct your entire life.
The accomplishment is in the decision itself. Make the decision today to conquer or step-out into areas that you’ve too often put on the shelf. Do something new today. If you want to make a difference in your life or in the lives of others, hesitation is a hazardous habit. Which reminds me of someone saying, “Gee, if I go back to school for a degree, it will take me four years and I’ll be “x” years old when I graduate.” Well, how old will you be four years from now if you don’t do it? Duhh!

Don’t sit around and wait for the right time to step out and do something great. Decide today! Decide now! People may assist you in many areas of life and can absolutely help you to achieve your goals. However, what people cannot do for you is make the decision for you. The power is in the decision.
