When I embarked on personal branding, I understood brand design should be different, but my intuitiveness was so dramatic until I wondered if it made sense. What I’ve learned is you can’t worry about if it makes sense. If the ideas are inside of you, they are beckoning to become known because there are people who desire it and are waiting for what you have to offer.

I knew I had to be different and it became apparent when I penned my award winning, Designing for the King. There are hundreds perhaps thousands of messages out there on personal development and now even with the new fad twist of calling it lifedesign. Same message, different packaging. The bottom line is the same notion to help people to improve their lives and step out of their comfort spots. All this is great, but…

…The problem I have with it is they boil down to the same bowl of soup. Rah, rah, you can do it, stop procrastinating, believe in yourself, dare to dream big, you’re every woman, up your game and the list goes on and on. If you’re like me, your personal library probably contains books and audios of all of these messages.

Don’t get me wrong.  Motivation is necessary and I am one who believes in giving you that much needed shove to the point of being labeled “the motivator” by the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of EEW Magazine, Dianna Hobbs to which I am a columnist by that title.

But, this is where I am different.

There must be a connection to every area of your life. As the hallway connects all the rooms of a tangible space and joins to complete the home’s structure, there must be intangible connections of life that joins to complete the way we live—the who, what, why and how.

When it comes to lifedesign, because I have been designing tangible spaces for well over a decade,  I would say that my attitude and approach to life transformation has progressively followed suit.  I see lifedesign/life renovation and lifestyle issues as I see interior design.

The interior design process follows a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge into the creative process, whereby the needs and resources of the client are satisfied to produce an interior space that fulfills the project goals.

When showing people how to change their lives, this approach cannot be overlooked. There must be a holistic renovating process before there can be a designing process, and it has to be internal and intangible. This is what sets me apart from the others.  The difference is much like “interior design” and “interior decorating”. Many people use these interchangeably, but these professions are different in critical ways.

Interior design is the art and science of understanding people’s behavior to create functional spaces within a building. Decoration is the furnishing or adorning of a space with fashionable or beautiful things. In short, interior designers may decorate, but decorators do not design.

Life coaches, lifestyle coaches, life designers and motivators are the decorators who adorn our lives with some great fashionable talk and beautiful messages. This is interior decorating.

My approach and methodology to lifedesign/life renovation/motivation is simply this: … I follow a systematic and coordinated methodology, including research, analysis and integration of knowledge for understanding people’s behavior, past and present,  and I walk them through the anatomy of the body so that all the connections are functional from head to toe… 360 Interior Living . The procedure that makes this a reality is  seamlessly integrating the same design principles and process that I use in my home design process. It appears, what I do for your home, I can also do for your life.

People no longer want to be pumped and pushed, they are desiring systematic procedures and processes so they can experience a sustainable,  comforting living performance.

Passionate, strong, adventurous, optimistic, fearless, independent. These adjectives describe the woman who owns her identity. It describes the woman who has come from behind the shadows into the light of who God has created her to be.

I’ve seen women give up the pursuit of her dreams in favor of helping their mate achieve his. She may withdraw from law school for “just a while” while he get’s his law degree, expecting him to one day return the favor.

But the day of favor never comes. He’s now in the spotlight and she has “willingly” lost her way. She see’s him as the the influential mate, and she succumbs to becoming subordinate, complacent, weak and unfocused. She has lost her identity to the light of his.

Well she has gotten herself in a mess of things but the good news is she can get herself out. Here’s how:

1. Admittance and Awareness. Call it is what it is. Face the ugly truth about your perception and belief that your mate is more powerful than you. (By the way, that’s all it is…a belief and perception).

2. Action and Advance. You will need to renovate and design your thought room. There is a design process that I teach (I’m not a life coach but moreover an interior lifedesign strategist) for doing this but for the sake of time I will share it this way: Your mind is a field. It is being planted with thought seeds that resemble:

• low self-esteem
• less than him
• misdirected beliefs
• no self-worth

You determine your own misery or happiness based upon your thought seeds that you plant in your mind. You have been given authority and no one else can determine that for you.

It is nobody else’s fault that you live the way you live right now. This may make you mad, but remember step one is “admittance and awareness.”

In the renovation process you can dig up what you have planted by taking responsibility for the design of your life. Only you can determine the decor of your mind…what you will allow to be installed there.

This is a process that works hand in hand with the design of your heart room. Because as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Embrace your own power and design a life that delights you. Engage your personal development plan fully focused. You don’t have to follow someone else’s script.

You don’t have to be less of who you are in an attempt to make your mate more of who he is. What you don’t realize is the spotlight is large enough for both of you.

Own your power, reclaim your identity, design your life for the King. The Chief Architect has a life plan especially for you.

Recently my life coach and mentor, Pam Perry attended Successful Living Workshop hosted by her life coach and mentor, Dr. Stacia Pierce.
Pam shared with me these nuggets that she took away from the workshop, and I want to share them with you.

1. Don’t ever say “It don’t take all that – when you don’t have
all that.”

2. Don’t judge someone else – because you never know the other person’s assignment in life.

10. Believe and you’ll see it. Expect the extraordinary.

11. Get up everyday believing. Enlarge your goals & dreams. Tap
into the “big” ideas from God.

12. Learn to be steadfast and unmovable for success. Winners never quit
and quitters never win.
